A pall of sadness settled over the Tipton community Friday when it became known that death had claimed Mrs. Bert Ochiltree.

When about 14 years of age, she united with the M. E. church at South Bethel, later attending services in the Methodist church in Tipton.

For a time she served as Sunday school teacher in the primary department of the Sunday school at South Bethel. She loved the church and helped in various other capacities.

She was united in marriage to Curtis E. Chapman, Dec. 20, 1903. To this union two sons were born, Harold Curtis, who died in infancy and Wayne Chapman, who with his wife remain on the farm home south of Tipton. She was especially fond of her grandchildren, Curtis and Joan. Her husband passed away in the year of 1937.

On July 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Bert Ochiltree at Lyle, Minn. They continued to made their home in Tipton.

Mr. and Mrs. Ochiltree were at Greene on Decoration day, where they attended the dedication of a memorial in honor of W. H. Bucholz, brother-in-law of Mr. Ochiltree. She became ill at the home of Mrs. Bucholz and was brought to the hospital at Cedar Rapids, where she succumbed on Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.

Besides her grief stricken husband, she is survived by one son, Wayne, and two sisters, Mrs. F. S. Chapman and Mrs. L. W. Mathews of Tipton. One sister, Mrs. F. C. Hill, preceded her in death two years ago.

The grief stricken family have the deepest sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

A precious one from us in gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.

Casket bearers were Carl Frederick, Russell Willer, Gaylord Goodale, Ora Mayes, Ralph Johnston and Ed Nebergall. Flower attendants were Dorothy Willer, Bes Mayes and Ursula Bolton.
