Downey -- Funeral services for Hiram K. Gates, 92, who died Wednesday morning at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, were held in the Downey Baptist church at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gale Baldridge officiated and burial was in the Downey cemetery.

Mr. Gates and his wife, who died in 1935, lived many years on a farm near Downey and moved here after retiring.

A son Charles and a daughter, Mrs. John Coxon, both of Downey, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive.
