Jerome Ransom Mueller was born Jan. 16, 1943 at Bennett, Iowa. Except for a short time when the family lived in Missouri he spent his brief years mostly in the Tipton community.

As a child he was presented to God in the sacrament of holy baptism. He attended Sunday school and Bible classes in our church here. Jerry, as he was called, was kind, courteous and exemplary in every respect. In the home, at church, and at school, he sought to be helpful, and was always ready and willing to do his best. Once as a very young lad he suffered a very severe burn about the face and arms. Through patience and determination he was bravely overcoming his handicap.

We had hoped to see Jerry grow up and develop to manhood in our community. But evidently that was not to be. We recall the words of the prophet Isaiah, who speaking by the spirit of God has this to say "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord."

We shall miss him in the home, in the church, and in the classroom. But we hasten to add that he has gone to a better home, a better school, and a more enduring temple. This we know:

"He cannot be where God is not
On any sea or shore
Whate'er betides, Thy love abides
Our God forever more."

Jerry closed his brief life with us on the afternoon of Feb. 10, 1955, at the age of 12 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Relatives nearest to him who mourn his passing are: his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Ransom Mueller; two brothers, Larry and Keith; two sisters, Linda and Dianne; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Mueller, of Tipton, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nebergall, of Atalissa; and the great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sewell, of St. Louis, Mo., as well as many other relatives and friends.
