26 October 1942 - The Clarence Sun

Charles Douglas Fehling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fehling, was born October 9th, 1942, at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, and passed away early Wednesday morning, November 18th, at the tender age of five weeks and five days, following an illness of three weeks.

Ten days after birth he accompanied his mother to their farm home southeast of Clarence, but on October 26th it was found necessary to return him to St. Luke's. There he seemed to be improving when, on November 17th, he suffered a relapse from which he did not rally. While at the hospital he was baptized by the Reverend F. J. Abele of Lowden on October 28th.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 20th, in Zion Evangelical church in Lowden, conducted by the Reverend Abele. Burial was in the Van Horn cemetery near Lowden.

Surviving are the parents, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Fehling and Mr. and Mrs. August Horman, and many other relatives.
