Robert E. Showalter, 27, farmer residing north of Moscow, died late Saturday night at the hospital at Muscatine, from a two weeks' illness of pneumonia. He was born in Virginia, May 15, 1914, the son of Edward and Ruth Showalter and married Ina Frenzel here on Nov. 21, 1939. They had been engaged in farming. His widow, parents of Muscatine, two brothers, Don of Lime City; Edward of Muscatine; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Hinkhouse, of West Liberty, and the Misses May, Jane and Joyce, at home, survive. Funeral services were held Tues., at 2 o'clock, at the Presbyterian church with interment in Oakdale cemetery. The Griffith funeral home had charge of the services. Rev. Theodore A. Mansen, Presbyterian pastor, delivered the funeral sermon.
