25 March 1920 - The West Branch Times

Mary Judith Pennock, daughter of Isaac and Rebecca Pennock, was born in Marlboro, Stark county, Ohio, Sept. 9, 1847, deceased March 13, 1920, aged 72 years, 6 months and 4 days.

Having been deprived of both parents by death while yet in early childhood, her home through childhood and young womanhood was made with an uncle, William Shreve.

She spent a number of years in the school room as teacher, teaching successfully in both Ohio and Iowa.

March 31, 1886, she was united in marriage with James L. Clemson, who lives to mourn the loss of a faithful companion.

After having known the parental care of an uncle's home, she in turn extended the mother love of her heart to a niece, Mary V. Irvin, who has been a member of the family since five years of age.

The deceased was a birthright member of the Friends church. As an overseer and as clerk of Goshen Monthly Meeting she gave many years of faithful service. At the time of her decease she was a member of the Damascus Meeting.

Beside the husband and niece, she is survived by a brother, Oliver C. Pennock of West Branch, Iowa, as well as a host of relatives and friends, who mourn the loss of one who spent a quiet yet faithful life of service in the Master's vineyard.

Short services were held at the home at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, after which the remains were taken to the Goshen Friends church where services were held at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Ralph S. Coppock, assisted by Chas. Bailey and by Clarence Cosand, singing evangelist. Interment was made in Goshen cemetery.
