Ernest H. Huffmaster was born in Hamburg, Germany, January 10th, 1865, and came to America with his parents in 1867, settling at Clarence, where he lived until the death of his father.

During these years he worked for the Northwestern Railroad, serving them in a number of capacities.

He was married to Miss Lily Frame at Clarence, October 20, 1917.

In 1923, they moved to Yates Center, Kansas, which has since been their home.

In childhood he united with the Evangelical Church at Clarence.

He was operated upon at the local hospital on August 10th last and suffered greatly thereafter till death came to his relief.

He passed away at the home, 204 East Washington St., Yates Center, Kansas, January 28th, 1944, at the age of 79 years.

Those surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lily Huffmaster, and two sisters, Mrs. B. B. Willey of Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. H. B. McLeod of Garden Grove, Calif.

Funeral services were conducted at the Yates Center Christian Church, Sunday afternoon, January 30th, at 2:30. The service was in charge of Rev. M. C. Cook, pastor of the church. A quartet of ladies composed of Mrs. Dean Randall, Misses Margaret Ann Randall, Marjorie West and Wanda Adams sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In the Garden".

Pallbearers were, Dean Randall, John Schnell, Henry O'Donnell, W. L. Wallace, Frank Lewis and Merle Barnes.

Interment in the Yates Center cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were his sister, Mrs. B. B. Willey of Omaha, and a brother-in-law, Joe Hucht of Webb City, Mo.

Ernest retained many friendships in Clarence even after twenty years away from here.
