Dietrick Juehring, son of Ernest Juehring, and his wife, Carolina, nee Runge, was born in Estorf, Germany, on Nov. 2, 1876. He was baptized in infancy in Germany and attended school there. In the year 1888 his father died in Germany and the following year, he with his mother and brother came to America, landing in New York on this 13th birthday. They then came on to Lowden where they made their home. Here he was confirmed in Zion's church and on Oct. 27, 1896, married by Rev. Werning to Miss Eliza Dettmann.

Mr. and Mrs. Juehring lived on a farm in Springfield township until the spring of 1940 when because of her failing health, they retired and moved to Clarence. Here Mrs. Juehring departed this life on May 28, 1941.

After the departure of his wife, he remained in Clarence until the following year, when he went to make his home with his son, then living in Anamosa. In November of last year he moved with them to Clinton where for the past five weeks he was confined to his bed in Mercy hospital. Previous to that he had been in Iowa City hospital for several weeks.

Though Mr. Juehring suffered greatly at times, his condition was not thought serious but death came to him about 7 o'clock Saturday morning, July 28th, at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 26 days.

Surviving his departure are his two sons, Wilbur of Clinton, and Richard, of Moline, also three grandchildren (one grandson died in infancy); a sister, Mrs. Henry Becker of Lowden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, July 31st, from St. John's Church at Clarence with interment at Van Horn cemetery, Lowden.

In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Viola Wulff and Betty Juehring.

Pallbearers were Herman Proesch, Ernest Juehring, Henry Juehring, Arnold Juehring, Lawrence Juehring, Harold Juering.
