5 July 1945 - The Clarence Sun

Edward Skinner, familiarly known as "Ted," was born March 23, 1877, near Massillon, and spent all of his life in that community.

He was married on Dec. 22, 1917, to Miss Inez Mae Barnhart and they started farming just north of Massillon. Four sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Skinner, one died in infancy, the other three, James Peter, John William and Harry Arthur, together with their mother, survive to mourn the departure of their father.

Others surviving include two granddaughters also of Massillon; two brothers, James of Massillon, and Arthur, of Oxford Junction; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie McCartney of Bremer, Mo., Mrs. Rose Sweet of Kamaih, Idaho, and Mrs. Daisy Fields of Oxford Junction; also a daughter-in-law, Mrs. James Skinner, and other more distant relatives.

Mr. Skinner had been suffering from diabetes for the past 18 years and on June 22 was operated at Cedar Rapids for gallstones. Apparently he was recovering nicely from the operation but an embolism set in, causing his death on Thursday morning, June 28th, 1945.

Funeral services were held in the Massillon church on Saturday, June 30th, with interment in the Massillon cemetery. Rev. F. J. Mittler officiated at the service.
