21 February 1952 - The Clarence Sun

Doris Arlene Irons was born at Laurel, Iowa, on March 31, 1919. Her early years were spent in that community, and it was there that she married James Irons on September 24, 1938. She and the family moved to a farm north of Clarence five years ago.

Mrs. Irons was taken into the closer presence of God on Wednesday, February 13, 1952, at Denver, Colorado, at the age of 32 years, 10 months and 12 days.

Mrs. Irons was a home-loving woman, and a devoted mother who insisted on taking full care of the children. She was a member of The Methodist Church, which she attended as regularly as health and home duties would permit. Her deep and abiding faith in God was a steading power in her last trying months. We bid her farewell from these earthly scenes, but the memory of her trust and calmness of spirit will remain with us as a monument to the power of God at work among us.

O for a faith that will not shrink
Though pressed by every foe,
That will not tremble on the brink
Of any earthly woe!
That will not murmur nor complain
Beneath the chastening rod,
But in the hour of grief or pain
Will lean upon its God. William H. Bathurst

Members of the immediate family left to mourn her untimely death include her devoted husband, James Irons; 3 children, Calvin, Janell and Craig; her mother, Mrs. Fred West of Laurel; 1 sister, Mrs. Ed Matya of Laurel; 1 brother, Earl West of Brainard, Minn. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred West, and one brother who died in infancy.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 1952, conducted by Reverend A. D. Holtry. In charge of the many beautiful floral pieces were Mrs. James Sawyer and Mrs. Roland Mingst. The music was furnished by Cordis Speas, accompanied by Mrs. Robert Joslin. Pallbearers were Max Levsen, Louis Levsen, Paul Levsen, Chris Griem and John Carstensen.

Interment was made in the Clarence cemetery.
