Wilhelmina Louise Meyer was born October 2, 1877 at Ilse Westphalia, Germany, the daughter of Ferdinand and Louise Ropa.

She was baptized shortly after birth and was confirmed when she was about 14 years old at Ilse.

In 1897 she left the family home and came to the United States where she made her home with a brother in the Clarence Stanwood community.

In 1899 she was united in marriage with Henry W. Meyer. They made their home on farms in the Stanwood Clarence communities. In recent years they lived at Clarence.

She had been in ill health some seven years. She began to decline rapidly, and was bedfast a great share of the time since last April. She departed this life early Wednesday morning, July 22, 1953, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 20 days.

Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Stanwood.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and 7 children: Mrs. Albert Ehlers, Bennett; Mrs. Clarence Ogden, Olin; Fred Meyer, Stanwood; Mrs. Otto Hasenbank, Lowden; Mrs. Herbert Goldsmith, Mechanicsville; Edwin Meyer, Clarence; Mrs. Ira Bicknese, Bennett; Mrs. George Laing, Tipton. One son died in infancy; 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood at 2 p.m. Friday, July 24th, 1953 conducted by Rev. Melvin R. Geffert. Music was by the church choir accompanied by Emil Licht. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Harold Dewell, Mrs. Harold Babcock, and Norma Sievers. The pallbearers were Robert Kelly, William Klein, Fred C. Meyer, Walter Leinbaugh, Dick Gallmeyer and Chris Kroemer.

Interment was made in the Stanwood cemetery.
