Louise Miller Hartwig, was born April 25, 1869, to Henry and Cathrine Cassier Hinrichs.

On March 30, 1890 she was married to Fredrick Miller and this union was blessed with five children. Mr. Miller passed away January 10, 1900, and two weeks previous to his passing, three of their children also succumbed to Diptheria. Another daughter Mrs. Albert Ebert passed away November 12, 1947.

On May 22, 1902 she was married to William H. Hartwig and three children were born to this marriage. Mr. Hartwig passed away November 14, 1927.

Mrs. Hartwig entered into rest on February 3, 1953, having reached the age of 83 years, 9 months and 8 days.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Women's Guild.

Surviving are the following: Children: Fred Miller, Mrs. Anna Klatt, Walter Hartwig of Clarence; Mrs. Esther Tilden, Mt. Ephraim, New Jersey; Mrs. Amelia Rixe and Louis Hartwig of Bennett, Iowa; Paul Hartwig and Mrs. Ida Hasenbank of Clarence, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Peters, Hawthorne, Cal.

One brother and one sister also preceded her in death.

Services were conducted at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, Clarence, Iowa, by Rev. E. J. Bowers at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 6, 1953. The music was by the church choir with Eleanor Conrad at the organ. In charge of the flowers were Anna Nieting, Marjorie Steege and Emma Doermann. Pallbearers were Hugo Miller, Otto Brendes, Ed Wilkening, Rudolph Hinrichs, Julius Schluter and Gustav Henrichs.

Interment was made in the Van Horne Cemetery at Lowden, Iowa.
