Paul H. Pruess was born October 20, 1885, in Fairfield Township, Clarence, Iowa, to Joe and Doris Miller Pruess

On February 19, 1914, he was united in marriage with Helen Bergmann, and this union was blessed with three sons.

Mr. and Mrs. Pruess resided on a farm south of Clarence until 1947 when they moved to Clarence.

Mr. Pruess entered into rest suddenly on Friday, January 30, 1953, at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 10 days.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Modern Woodmen of America.

The deceased is survived by his wife; three sons, Harlan Pruess, Lowden, Iowa; Leroy and Lelan Pruess, Clarence, Iowa. Four grandchildren and two brothers: Alfred Pruess of Clarence and Otto Pruess of Mechanicsville.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church on Sunday, February 1, 1953, by the Rev. Edward J. Bowers. The music was furnished by a mixed quartette accompanied by Eleanor Conrad. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. John Hasenbank, Mrs. Merle Dahn and Mrs. Ernest Doermann. Pallbearers were Melvin Oldorf, Melvin Pruess, Harold Oldorf, La Vern Pruess, Milfred Pruess and Norman Bergmann.

Interment was made in the St. John's Cemetery.
