22 January 1953 - The Clarence Sun

Army Pfc. Robert C. Luettjohan, husband of Marie Ann Luettjohan of route 2, Cedar Rapids, died in Germany on January 8th, 1953. The soldiers death was announced last Monday by the U. S. Seventh Army Headquarters at Stuttgart. The report said that his body was found in his unit's arms room where he was cleaning weapons. His wife said that her husband died on the 8th and that she was notified the next day that he had died of gunshot wounds in the mouth. The death occurred near Worms, Germany.

Pfc. Luettjohan was inducted into the army March 19th, 1951.

In addition to his wife he is survive by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Luettjohan, two sisters, June and Gae and a brother Neil of Beverly. Mrs. Carl Luettjohan may be remembered in this community as the former Marie Hoffner who has many relatives living in Clarence.

The soldier will be returned to the country for burial.
