William Korthaus 1826-1912

William Korthaus, one of Bennett's oldest residents, passed away at his home Monday at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 29 days. He died of infirmities of old age.

Mr. Korthaus was born in Dahl, Westpahalia, Germany, May 26, 1826, he came to this country in the year 1848. Feb. 3, 1857 he was married to *** Mr. and Mrs. Korthaus lived on a farm near Walcott for 42 years, 13 years ago they came to near Bennett and have resided here since that time. Mrs. Korthaus died May 19, 1905. After the death of his beloved wife Mr. Korthaus continued to make his home here having with him his daughter, Miss Clara.

Six children survive Mr. Korthaus, Mrs. Amelia Fink south of Durant, Albert of Lawton, Okla., Rudolph of Walcott, Clara of Bennett, Mrs. Tressa Telsrow of Walcott and Theodore of Bennett.

Funeral services were held here at the home at 7:30 Friday morning and the remains were taken to Walcott on the morning passenger for burial.
