Mrs. Ernst Kintzel, nee Amelia Penningroth, was born February 19, 1878 at Lowden, Iowa, to Fred and Sophie Richman Penningroth.

On December 6, 1900, she was married to Ernst Kintzel and this marriage was blessed with two daughters.

Mrs. Kintzel passed away at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City on October 13, 1954, having reached the age of 76 years, 7 months and 24 days.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Women's Guild. Her entire lifetime was spent in this community.

She and her husband were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1950.

Both of her daughters, Luella Lausen and Leona Unsicker, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; two sons-in-law, Henry Lausen, Iowa City, Iowa, and William Unsicker, Nay, Ohio. One brother, Emil Penningroth, of Erie, Pa., 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 15, 1954, at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. E. J. Bowers in charge. The music was furnished by a mixed quartette which was accompanied at the organ by Eleanor Conrad. In charge of the many beautiful floral tributes were Mrs. Mearl Bixler, Mrs. Ira Wilson and Mrs. Lawrence Kleppe. Pallbearers were Irvin Kintzel, Richard Kintzel, Lavern Kintzel, Roland Pennigroth, Elwood Rix and Orville Penningroth.

Interment was made in the Clarence cemetery.
