The Hon. Marion C. Hamiel, 56, judge of the 18th judicial district died unexpectedly at his home in Tipton early Saturday, Sept. 25th.

Judge Hamiel was born on a Cedar county farm September 7, 1898. He was a graduate of the Tipton high school and of the State University of Iowa law school and began his law practice in Tipton in 1923.

He served as county attorney from 1924 to 1931, was special assistant attorney general in the Robert Sproat murder case and had served on the district court bench since 1943.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Norman of Tipton and Keith of Des Moines; and two daughters, Carol, at home, and Mrs. Robert Van Norstrand of Bennett.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 27th, at the Tipton Methodist church with burial in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. He had been in poor health for several years with death attributed to heart disease.
