Carl Eggert was born near Rensburg, Holstein, Germany, on November 17th, 1855. He came to America with his parents in 1873 and settled in Walcott, Scott county and after a few years residence at that place, came to Bennett, where he lived until the year of 1905, when on account of poor health he went to a different climate.

In 1886 he was married to Doris Brocks, now deceased. To this union was born three sons, namely, Chas. of Denver and Wm. and Albert of Bennett, who were all present at the funeral.

About the middle of April Mr. Eggert returned from his long stay in California, Colorado and Arizona, his health not improved. He died at the home of his step-sister, Mrs. Chas. Bell, one and one-half mile southwest of Bennett, of asthma and dropsy on May 9th.

Deceased leaves to mourn his demise, besides his three sons named, his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Eggert of Bennett, one sister, who lives in Chicago, and seven step sisters and brothers.

The funeral was held at the Bell farm last week Thursday at 10 o'clock a.m. with interment in the Hanna cemetery, Rev. Bendigkeit of the German church and Rev. Lee of the M. E. church officiating.
