Jennie Hamiel Mather was born at Springdale, Iowa, December 19, 1878. She was married to Carl H. Mather on June 23rd, 1903, and they had the very great pleasure of commemorating with their friends the 50th year of the marriage this past summer.

They made their home at Clarence from 1903 to 1908, when they moved to Tipton, where she and her husband became active members of the Presbyterian Church. She was active in P.E.O., Garden Club, Eastern Star, Past Matrons Club, and 19th Century Club. Her joy in doing for others was evidenced by the many happy friendships which enriched both her life, and the lives of all who knew her.

Her love and appreciation of the beautiful was expressed in her home and rose garden. Many are those who have received a rose from her hand, a corsage, or a flower arrangement she had made for them. Hers was a full life enriched by travel, good reading, creative hobbies and an awareness of all beauty. She was a wonderful wife and mother and always a gracious hostess.

She leaves beside her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Maurine M. Augustine, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. George G. Schuster, of Riverside, Conn., and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Mather passed away on Friday, January 29, 1954 after having attained the age of 75 years, 1 month and 10 days. The funeral was held at the Tipton Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 31, 1954, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Raymon Ferguson conducted the service. The music was furnished by Miss Laura Geller at the organ with the vocalist being James Bell. Pallbearers were Norman Hamiel, Wm. Schneekloth, Keith Hamiel, A. E. Rumble, Jr., Henry Walters and Walter Rismiller.

Interment was made in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
