Christian Roy Cashman was born September 20, 1886, at Oakville, Pennsylvania, and passed away at his home in Clarence, Iowa on July 28, 1955, having reached the age of 68 years, 10 months and 8 days.

At the age of nine years, he came with his parents and family to Cedar County, Iowa where he lived the rest of his life with the exception of the first two years of married life which he spent in farming near Ashton, South Dakota.

On December 31, 1908, he was united in marriage to Essie Gardner at her family home in Clarence.

Two children were born to this union, Luella and Douglas.

Practically his entire lifetime was spent farming. At the present time he was employed by the Ruprecht Lumber Company.

His happiness was his home and family.

Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife Essie, his children, Louella, now Mrs. Chris Griem and Douglas, both of Clarence; five grandchildren, Judy Griem, now Mrs. Vernon Greiner of Cedar Rapids, Gary and Diane Griem, Julianne and James Cashman of Clarence; four sisters, Mrs. Edna Agne and Mrs. Bertha Methven, both of Tipton, Mrs. Ethel Anderson of Pasadena, California, and Mrs. Mary Phillips of Clarence; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

His parents and two sisters, Mrs. Coral Samuels and Mrs. Jennie Van Sickle, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted in The Methodist Church in Clarence at 2:30 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, July 30, 1955, by the Reverend Forrest E. Flowers. Music was provided by Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen who sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In The Garden" with Miss Sharon Dewell at the organ. In charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. John Paul and Mrs. Ralph Christiansen. The pallbearers were John Paul, John Greig, James Irons, George Ruprecht, E. C. Freese and Ernest Dewell.

Interment was made in the Clarence Cemetery.
