Carl J. Eilers, was born June 6, 1888, at Grosswurden, Germany, a son of Fred and Alma Eilers nee Meiner.

July 15, 1888 he received the sacrament of Holy Baptism.

On March 28, 1904, he was confirmed in St. John's Evangelical & Reformed Church at Clarence where he remained a member during his lifetime.

January 11, 1911 he was married to Amanda Goldsmith and this union was blessed with two children.

The Eilers family have maintained their home in the Stanwood community for the past 35 years.

Charley entered into rest suddenly on July 19, 1955, having reached the age of 67 years, 1 month and 13 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Amanda; his daughter Evelyn, Mrs. James Smith of Stanwood; and son Mearl at home; 2 grandsons, Keith and Neal Smith; three sisters--Mrs. Frieda Miller of Clarence, Mrs. Anna Butterbrodt of Tipton and Mrs. Ella Willer also of Tipton; also three brothers--Ernest, August and Fred Eilers all of Tipton.

His parents, two brothers Henry and William preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Clarence at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 1955, conducted by Rev. Edward J. Bowers. The music was a ladies duet with Karen Geadelmann at the organ. In charge of the many beautiful floral pieces were Mrs. Dale Miller and Mrs. Wm. Butterbrodt. Pallbearers were Harry Meyer, Ralph Brendes, Elmer Meyer, Richard Meyer, Fred Lawson and Paul Busching.

Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery.
