Henry Von Behren, son of John and his wife Caroline, born Lehrman Von Behren, was born April 14, 1887 on the farm between Mechanicsville and Stanwood, Iowa. Here he grew to manhood and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Stanwood. On February 1, 1912 he was married to Ella Huxoll at Lowden, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with five children. The couple lived on the farm until about twelve years ago when the departed moved to the town of Stanwood. The departed had returned from a trip south to Texas and Mexico about three weeks ago. Since returning home he had been steadily growing weaker. Monday, February 6th, his pastor gave him Holy Communion with his wife and then early on Tuesday morning, Feb. 7th, 1956, at 5 p.m. he departed this life. The cause of death was diagnosed as leukemia. He was 68 years, 9 months and 23 days of age when he peacefully fell asleep in the Savior.

He leaves to mourn his death, his widow Ella nee Huxoll and his children Mrs. Leland Pritchard (Helen) of Lawrence, Kansas; Mrs. Ralph Wilkinson (Hildagard) of Dallas, Texas; Ernest of Mechanicsville, Iowa, on the home place; Mrs. Leonard Koppenhaver (Ruth) of Anamosa, Iowa, and Carl of the home, also his three sisters, Mrs. Rose Portewig; Mrs. Dick Gallmeyer (Ida) and Mrs. Carl Wigger (Amelia) all of Stanwood, nine grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Henry Von Behren had been a faithful and active member of his church serving his congregation in various ways during the past years. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9th, 1956 by the pastor Reginald M. Muhl. Music was by the Men's Chorus under the direction of Emil Licht. Pallbearers were Edwin Koering, Howard Wigger, Paul Portewig, Henry Portewig, Harold Von Behren and John Von Behren.

Interment in Stanwood Cemetery.
