Mr. Flansburg was born in Albany, New York, in 1872, and came to Cedar county with his father and step-mother at the age of 13 years. He attended the Clarence high school and graduated with the class of 1892.

September 17th, 1895, he was united in marriage with Anna Spear, and they established their new home on the farm where they lived on the homestead from 1898 until 1927. They built a new home in Clarence and retired from the farm in 1927.

Mr. Flansburg is survived by his widow, one sister, Mrs. Helen Escher of Prescott, Arizona, two brothers, Sherman of Clarence, and Wilbur of Stanwood, Iowa, as well as two nieces and four nephews.

Clark Flansburg was born Dec. 21,1872, in Albany County, New York. At the age of 7 he lost his mother. About two years later his father married again, and the lad and his new mother were soon bound by ties of love, unbroken during her life time.

When Clark was 13 the family moved to Cedar County, Iowa. Here he attended the Clarence schools, graduating in 1892. Following this he taught school for two years.

Sept. 17, 1895, he was married to Miss Anna Spear. After living on rented farms for a time they bought a farm in 1898 and moved onto the place which was to be their home for about twenty-nine years. In March, 1927, they moved to Clarence, leaving the farm in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Luikart, who for a number of years had been the efficient helpers of Mr. and Mrs. Flansburg. This arrangement, satisfactory to both parties, has continued until the present time.

For more than thirty-five years Mr. Flansburg had been a member of the Clarence Methodist Church, much of this time serving on the official board.

About three years ago failing health began limiting his activities along all lines. Gradually, but persistently disease closed its grip upon him. All that care and medical science could accomplish was done for him, but this was not enough, and on March 17, 1932, at his home in Clarence, he slipped away, aged 69 years, 2 months and 25 days.

Mr. Flansburg was a good neighbor, a loyal friend and a loving husband. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mrs. Anna Flansburg, one sister, Mrs. Helen Escher of Prescott, Ariz.; two brothers, Sherman of Clarence and Wilbur of Stanwood; two nieces and four nephews, and a host of friends, many of them among the children whom he loved dearly.

The funeral was held at the Clarence Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon, March 19, and was in charge of the pastor, Rev. R. C. Scott, who was assisted by Rev. U. J. Fike. The singing was by Rev. and Mrs. Fike. Interment followed in the Clarence cemetery.
