Howard Earl Dewell, son of Hiram and Martha (Ireland) Dewell, was born May 4, 1877, and passed away on Monday, November 18, 1957, at the family home.

He had reached the age of 80 years, 6 months and 14 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

On August 30, 1900 he was married to Lulu Belcher who with three children, Mrs. Anvy Spear, Tipton, Ernest and Harold of Clarence survive. He also leaves six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tipton, a member of Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge of Clarence for 56 years, the Consistory in Cedar Rapids and the Ka Aba Shrine in Davenport.

Services were conducted from the Chapman Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 1957 with the Rev. Howard Dukelow in charge assisted by the Rev. Raymond Ferguson of Tipton. The music was furnished by Mrs. Eugene McCaw, Soloist and Arlynn Kintzel, Organist. In charge of the flowers were: Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wallace, Mrs. Norman Goldsmith and Mrs. Richard Weatherwax. Pallbearers: Leo Von Muenster, Arnold Freeman, Herbert Robinson, Elwood Bunge, Fredrick Koch and Art Sherman.

Interment was made in the Clarence Cemetery.
