Mrs. Arnold Pruess, nee Luanna Dircks was born April 30, 1900 at Lowden, Iowa, daughter of Fred and Anna Richmann Dircks.

On December 16, 1920 she was united in marriage with Arnold Pruess and this union was blessed with one daughter.

Mrs. Pruess was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Women's Guild, Royal Neighbors of America, Cultus Club, Treasurer of the Clarence Library Board, Director of the Evangelical Youth Choir, charter member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, past president of the Regional Women's Guild, and former District Director of Federated Women's Clubs.

She passed away on October 20, 1957, having reached the age of 57 years, 5 months and 20 days.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Vivien, Mrs. Lorence Thien; three grandchildren, two brothers, Emil and Carl Dircks of Lowden, and a sister, Eliza, Mrs. Frank Winter of Tipton.

Her parents, one sister and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Clarence at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23rd, 1957, with Rev. Edward J. Bowers officiating. The music was furnished by the Youth Choir, with whom she had spent so many hours of joyful labor, with Arlynn Kintzel as organist. In charge of the many beautiful floral tributes were Mrs. Henry Feddersen, Mrs. Edwin Schluter and Mrs. Wm. Rix. Pallbearers were: Alfred Ebers, Henry Feddersen, John Liercke, Louis Hansen, Grover Penningroth and Fred Bachman.

Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery.
