4 July 1957 - The Clarence Sun

Charles Leslie Zuck was born August 24, 1874 at Shady Grove, Pennsylvania, the fifth child in a family of ten of the late Elder and Mrs. John Zuck. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leon A. Foster, of Cadillac, Michigan, June 24th, 1957, at the age of 82 years and 10 months. At the age of 3 years the family moved to Clarence, Iowa. Here he grew to manhood, receiving the customary meager education of that period. He had a keen mind sharpened in the school of experience.

On September 25, 1900 he was married to Clara Mae Dorcas at Tipton, Iowa. Their home was established five miles south of Clarence, Iowa. This union was blessed with 3 children: Margaret Armstead of Lake City, Michigan, DeVee Foster of Cadillac, Michigan, and Clarence of Homer, Michigan.

As a young man, he was baptized into the Church of the Brethren, which faith remained his during his entire life. He was a man of firm conviction, whether in religion, society or politics. His motto always was that, "right makes might". His integrity was never questioned.

In March of 1909, Mr. Zuck with his wife and two daughters moved to Falmouth, Michigan, which, except for 10 years spent in Cadillac, remained his home until his decease. Here he pioneered, clearing the land and building mostly of native lumber. His life was spent in hard labor, interspersed with friendships which he always enjoyed.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters and one son, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Otto, of Sioux City, Iowa, and two sisters, Golden Dorcas of Tipton, Iowa, and Precious Fike of Clarence, Iowa.

Funeral services were conducted from the Young Funeral Home in Lake City, Mich. on Thursday, June 27th, 1957. Elder U. J. Fike of Clarence, Iowa, officiated.

Interment was made in the Cadillac Maple Hill Cemetery.
