Henry D. Conrad was born July 27, 1875 on a farm south of Lowden, Iowa, son of Ernest and Hanna Kroemer Cornad.

He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Church at Lowden, Iowa.

On February 27, 1902 he was united in marriage with Louise Ebert and this union was blessed with four children. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad were privileged to observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1952. Mrs. Conrad entered into rest on Christmas Day 1952.

Mr. Conrad spent his lifetime in Cedar County. He passed away at Iowa City on May 19, 1957, having reached the age of 81 years, 9 months and 22 days. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church.

Surviving are: Wilbur and Arnold Conrad, both of Tipton; Luella Voigts, Greene, Iowa; Esther Moir, Mechanicsville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Louie and Ernest Conrad of Clarence; two sisters: Mrs. Emma Bicknese, Frankfort, South Dakota; and Mrs. Anna Wilkening of Clarence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church on Tuesday, May 21, 1957, with Rev. Edward J. Bowers conducting the service. The music was furnished by a male quartet with Miss Karen Geadelmann as organist. In charge of the many beautiful floral tributes were Mrs. Edgar Lange, Mrs. Victor Andresen and Eleanor Conrad. Pallbearers were Fred Miller, William Rix, Albert Conrad, Raymond Doermann, Herman Gehrls and Hubert Meier.

Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery.
