Paul William Gottschalk was born January 17, 1888 at Lowden, Iowa, son of William and Katherine Behrens Gottschalk.

On March 17, 1912, he was married to Alvina Bockelman and this union was blessed with four children.

Mr. Gottschalk was a retired railroad employee and spent his entire lifetime in this community.

He passed away on Sunday, May 10, 1959, having reached the age of 71 years, 3 months and 23 days.

He is survived by one daughter; Lucille Joslin. Two sons, Wilbert and Vernon Gottschalk, all of Clarence. Also by seven grandchildren, four brothers: Julius, Albert and Fred Gottschalk, of Lowden and John Gottschalk of Fort Dodge, Iowa and by two sisters; Bertha Gallmeyer of Massillon and Emma Steffens of Calamus.

His parents, wife, son Norman, and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 12th, 1959 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with the Rev. Edward J. Bowers officiating and Mrs. Howard Folk as organist.

Interment was made in the Clarence Cemetery.
