A notice of the death of a former Clarence resident was received by this office on Monday from a Mrs. Blanche Bailey of Whittier, California, of the woman known here many years back as Bessie Crittenden.

Bessie was the first wife of S. S. Crittenden, who was an attorney for a good many years here in Clarence. The two children of Bessie, Kathleen and James, have a good many friends here that still would like to know their whereabouts.

Bessie, whose real name was Elizabeth Ann was born at San Andreas, California on July 8, 1888 and passed away February 12, 1959 at Oakland California at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 4 days.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. February 16th, at Sierra View Chapel at Carmichael, Calif. with graveside rites at 2 p.m. Feb. 18th 1959 at Rosehills Memorial, at Whittier, Calif.

Mrs. Crittenden after leaving Clarence changed her name to Hyatt.

Mrs. Blanche Bailey is the former Blanche Tague Glendenning.
