Mildred Oetting Claney passed away suddenly after a lingering illness in St. Lukes Hospital on Saturday morning, December 20, 1958.

She was born April 12, 1890 near Stanwood, Iowa. She graduated from Stanwood high school and taught school in the vicinity for a number of years. On March 22, 1911 she was united in marriage to Nelson Claney. Most of their married life was spent farming in the community until moving to Clarence in 1944 where she spent the remainder of her life.

She became a member of the Methodist Church at an early age and has remained steadfast in her faith through the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband two years ago December 28, 1956. Also by her parents and one sister.

She leaves to mourn her two sons Howard and Arthur Claney of Clarence, three grandchildren, Don, Dean and Kathryn Claney and two great grandchildren, Michael and Patti Jane Claney, also her sisters Irma Alexander, Chicago, Ill.; Freda Parter, Orange, Calif.; Carrie Knott, Homestead, Florida; Eloise Young, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and one brother Ernest Oetting of Lisbon, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 1958, at the Methodist Church and were conducted by Rev. Cyril Ashton. The music was furnished by Miss Dorothy Ashton, soloist and Miss Arlynn Kintzel, organist. In charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. John Greig and Mrs. Ida Engelking. The pallbearers were Glen Tenley, Frank Miller, J. E. Shriver, Willard Russell, John Greig and Homer Burgess.

Interment was made in the Clarence Cemetery beside her husband.
