Alfred Ebers was born October 27, 1896, at Steelville, Ill., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ebers. He received his education in the Illinois schools and came to Iowa in 1917.

He was united in marriage with Emma Wenndt of Lowden in February 1920. They farmed in the Bennett and Clarence communities until 1955, when they moved to Lowden.

At the time of his untimely passing in his car in Clarence on Tuesday afternoon, September 16th, he had reached the age of 61 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Mr. Ebers had been employed on the sewer installation crew here at Clarence.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Richard, of Clarence and two daughters, Mrs. Orville Horman of Clarence and Mrs. Harley Dallege of Tipton; also five grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Holda Kingston of Steelville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 1958, being conducted by Rev. Theo J. Eickelberg of Lowden and assisted by the pastor of the Stanwood Church Rev. R. M. Muhl. The music was furnished by a Men's Chorus with Emil Licht as organist. In charge of the many floral tributes were Mrs Julius Meier, Mrs. Wilfred Pruess and Mrs. August Dettmann. Pallbearers were Arnold Pruess, Norman Hartwig, Arnold Koch, August Dettmann, Ferd Goettsch and Lorenz Hoffmeier.

Interment was made at the Lutheran Cemetery, Lowden, Iowa.
