Dr. James Dixon, veterinarian here more than four decades, died Thursday evening in the home of Mrs. Mary Templeton, where he had been cared for during a lingering illness.

He was born in West Liberty, W. Va., Feb. 3, 1873, graduated from the West Liberty academy, attended the University of West Virginia, graduated from Ontario Veterinarian college, and attended Cornell university, Ithica, N.Y., before coming to Tipton in 1902. Dr. Dixon was a member of the Veterinarian Medical association and was appointed assistant state veterinarian in 1912. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, Cedar lodge, Masons, of which he was a member, conducted funeral services.

Funeral services were held at the McCormick funeral home in Tipton at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rv. Orville Schroer, pastor of the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church of Tipton officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
