Harold J. Davis, 65, Tama, a native of Tipton, died at Tama Dec. 10, following a heart attack. He was born in Tipton Feb. 1, 1906 and was married to Mae West at Corydon. He worked for a Cedar Rapids shoe store and then operated shoe stores in Anamosa and Tama, retiring in 1969.

The Davis family moved from Tipton to Clarence where he graduated from high school. His father was a rural mail carrier at Clarence.

He served in the navy in World War II, was a member of the United Methodist church, Masonic lodge OES, American Legion and VFW. He was a past president of the Tama Chamber of Commerce and Lions club, a member of the Tama school board and one the board of directors of the Tama Mutual Loan and Savings association.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Dr. Durwood D. Davis, Toledo; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald O. Schmidt, Gladbrook; 6 grandchildren; his mother, Flora M. Davis and a sister, Florence Paysen, both of Westminister, Calif., and a brother, Charles, Anaheim, Calif.
