Funeral services for Henry J. Goldsmith, 94, oldest resident of Clarence, were held in St. John's United Church of Christ May 3 with the Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Burial was in St. John's cemetery.

Mr. Goldsmith died April 30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Forrest (Esther) Woode.

Pallbearers were Arthur Dircks, Glenn Pruess, Fred Bachman, John Burmeister, J. E. Shriver and Arnold Pruess. Mrs. Karl Schnipkoweit and Mrs. Norman Frahm were in charge of flowers.

A native of Clarence, Mr. Goldsmith was born Sept. 23, 1876, the son of Henry and Marie Kliefeldt Goldsmith. He was married to Freda Boettcher Oct. 15, 1903 at Clarence. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Woode; a son, Edward, Monmouth; 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
