Last rites for Robert Spille, 56, a native of Clarence, were held at Red Wing, Minn. March 31. He had been ill since January.

He was born in Clarence, moving to Minnesota as a child. He graduated from St. Olaf college in 1939 and as employed as a physical education instructor at the state training school in Red Wing.

He was married to Arloine Marti at Red Wing April 27, 1940. He served in the navy from July, 1943 to 1946 and was in the Pacific theater of operations.

He served as principal at Franklin high school, Franklin, Minn., and at the state training school from 1950-60. He received his masters degree in administration from the University of North Dakota in 1951. After being employed at the Minnesota Home school he returned to Red Wing and was educational director at the Red Wing Training school from 1969 until January of this year when he became ill.

Survivors are his wife; 3 sons, Robert Jr., Heidelberg, Germany; James, Wasco, Calif., and Thomas, River Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Terrill Roquette, Bemidji; his mother, Mrs. Selma Spille, Minneapolis; 7 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dean and Adrian, both of Minneapolis; and a sister, Mrs. Gustave Osterberg, Minneapolis.
