Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Mae Challis, 76, were held at the Red Oak church March 22 with the Rev. William Meyer in charge. Burial was in the Red Oak cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ray, Tom and John Beckmann, Robert Dauber, James Thompson and Keith Whitlatch. Mrs. Joe Meyers and Mrs. Charles Sisler were in charge of flowers. Don Thompson was vocalist and Mrs. Max Phelps organist.

Mrs. Challis died on the way to the hospital after becoming ill March 19.

The daughter of John and Agnes Mae Ritchie Thompson, she was born March 15, 1894 at Perry and was educated in the Cedar Rapids schools. She was married to Page Faye Arnold at Cedar Rapids Nov. 21, 1911 and, following his death to H. Ray Challis at Amboy, Ill. Feb. 12, 1927.

She had lived in the Red Oak-Tipton area since 1927 and was a member of the Presbyterian church and a charter member of the Red Oak Circle of Kings Daughters.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Zanita) Becker and Mrs. Vernon (Mary) Beckmann, both of Mechanicsville and Mrs. Don (Maxine) Whitlatch, Tipton; a son, Donald R. Challis, Tipton; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands and a daughter, Marion Louise.
