Willis Grant Carl, son of John L. and Julia Ann Carl, was born in Cedar county June 4, 1864 and passed away Sept. 14, 1945 at the Mercy hospital at Davenport.

He was twice united in marriage, and was preceded in death by both wives. Rosena Daut Carl passed away April 27, 1923 and Josephine Henry Carl Aug. 15, 1933. Three children, Mable, Willis and Clarence also preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Stella Schiele of Downey, Mrs. Vera Crapser of Low Moor; one son, Harry C. Carl of Davenport; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Myrta Spencer of Tipton; two brothers, Frank Carl of Tipton and Bryson Carl of Fort Morgan, Colo.
