Luther Michael Thumm as born June 10, 1904, at Red House, West Vriginia, the son of Lydia Jane Matthews and Valentine B. Thumm, and met an accidental death Tuesday evening, Nov. 13th, at the age of 41 years, 5 mo. and 3 days.

At the age of four years he came to Iowa with his parents and sister and for the past 37 years has resided in this community.

He received his education in the Tipton public schools after which he engaged in farming until his untimely death.

On December 29, 1932, at the First Presbyterian church, Rock Island, Ill., he was united in marriage to Pauline Kinyon, of Tipton, Iowa.

To this union four children, Delmar, Eldon, Burdette and Darrel, were born.

In addition to his wife and four sons he is survived by his sister, Mrs. Hazel Hill, of Tipton, several uncles and aunts, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors.

He was of the Presbyterian faith and truly lived an upright, Christian life.

He was a kind and loving father and husband, a great lover of his home and always ready to extend a helping hand to neighbors, friends and relatives alike even at the cost of personal sacrifice.

He will be sadly missed by all who mourn his departure and will leave a place in their hearts which can never be filled, but it seems the will of God that he should meet his parents who preceded him in death.
