Michael Solomon Spencer, 76, a highly esteemed Tipton man, passed away at 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 7th, at Mercy hospital in Iowa City. Mr. Spencer had suffered a stroke three weeks ago Sunday. A clot in one foot developed and infection followed making it apparently necessary to operate and he was at once taken to the hospital. His death occurred before the surgery could be performed.

He was born in Pomeroy, Ohio, and Tipton had been his home the past several years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marta Spencer, his sons Donald of Moline, Ill.; Kenneth of New Hartford, Iowa; Kermit and Raymond, of Tipton; also two step-sons Gerald Crispin of Tipton and Gail Crispin of Wilton, Iowa; four brothers and one sister.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday Feb. 10th, at the Sheets Funeral Home in Tipton, the Rev. Leo G. Wolfe of the Tipton Methodist church officiating. Interment will be made in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
