Gottleib Conrad, an aged resident of Bennett, became despondent over continued ill health and decided to end it all. Yesterday morning he went to an upper room in his home, where he tied a piece of packing cord about his neck and to a clothes rack and strangled himself to death. The deed was committed some time in the forenoon and when the body was discovered about eleven o'clock life was extinct. Coroner Meyhaus was notified and went to the scene of the tragedy, but after inquiring into the facts as apparent, decided an inquest unnecessary and reported accordingly. The deceased leaves an aged wife and one son to mourn his sad death. -- Durant Star
