Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Thomas, 79, were held in the United Methodist church July 9. Rev. Nelson officiated at the 2:30 p.m. service. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Robert Davidson, David Ferguson, John Sauer, William Woods, J. C. Butler and Kenneth Montz, were pallbearers.

Mrs. Thomas died at Crestview Acres Nursing home, Marion, July 7.

Esther Frances Angell Thomas was born April 13, 1893 at Sterling, Ill., the daughter of William and Bella Allison Angell. She was married to J. Paul Thomas, June 26, 1920. They lived in the Mechanicsville area. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Presbyterian church and of the Order of Eastern Star. She had been a patient in Crestview Acres for the past 7 years.

Survivors include her 3 daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Bette) Hedin, Hayward, Calif.; Mrs. George (Dorothy) Auld, Albert Lea, Minn.; Mrs. Ray (Marilyn) Jewell, Mechanicsville; a sister, Mrs. E. K. Dettweiler, Polo, Ill.; 3 grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister and 2 brothers.

The Horner Funeral service was in charge.

Out of town friends and relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Styczynski and Kris, Polo., Ill., Mrs. James Angell, Dixon, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thomas, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Parsons, Tipton; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Courtney, Marion; and Albert Jewell, Cedar Rapids.
