Funeral services for David M. Ward, 78, were held in St. Joseph's church in Marion July 5 with the Rev. Bernard C. Grady officiating. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville.

Mr. Ward died July 2 following a prolonged illness. Rosary was recited at the Baxter Memorial chapel July 4.

David M. Ward was born Sept. 16, 1893, at Clementsville, Ky. He was married to Gladys Fisher Feb. 8, 1926. They farmed in the Clarence area for 16 years and then in the Marion area until 6 years ago when they retired and moved to Marion.

He served in World War I and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church.

Survivors are his wife, a son, Donald P. Ward of Watkins, 2 daughters, Mrs. Verlyn Beck of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Harold Sanders of Marion, 11 grandchildren and one brother, Philip T. Ward, Mechanicsville.
