Final rites for Maurice Freeman Jones, 70, were held at the Mechanicsville Methodist church April 21 with the Rev. James Nelson officiating. Burial was in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Jones died at St. Luke's hospital, April 18.
The son of William Thomas and Susie Margaret Jones, he was born at Shellsburg Feb. 20, 1902. He graduated from Shellsburg high school and attended Drake University in 1921 and 1922.
He was married to Nadine Miner at Luzerne Feb. 20, 1924. He lived in Benton county until 1929 when he moved to Cedar Rapids, coming to Mechanicsville in 1955 where he operated "This Old House" café.
He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic lodge and El-Kahir Shrine.
He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, A. Keith, Manchester; Harlan M., Lisbon and Rodney C., Rockford; a sister, Leota Jones, Mechanicsville.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Glenyce Silverman, Milwaukee, Wis., and a brother and sister.
