Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Gordon Spry, 64, Waterloo, were held in the Central Christian church, Waterloo, April 18.

Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery. Purl Pearson, Howard Rhoads, Donald Overbaugh, Sr., Horace Overbaugh, Donald Overbaugh Jr. and Glenn Overbaugh were the pallbearers.

Mr. Spry died April 15 of a heart attack. He was a former president of the Waterloo board of education and currently was secretary-treasurer of the Waterloo Farm Systems. He had been with the company for 35 years.

Gordon Spry was born Dec. 4, 1907 in Mechanicsville the son of Walter and Mary Davis Spry. He was a graduate of the Mechanicsville high school and from a Cedar Rapids business college. He served as many years as a bank examiner for the state department of banking.

Mr. Spry was married to Florence Overbaugh April 14, 1934 in Cedar Rapids. They moved to Waterloo in 1937.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Mariam Bonner, Cedar Falls; a son, Douglas, Indianapolis, Ind. and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.

Mr. Spry was a member of the Central Christian church, past president of the National Silo association, and of the National Accountants association. He was also a member of the Elks Club, the Masonic Lodge No. 155 of Mechanicsville and the Cedar Rapids Consistory.

Mr. Spry was a brother-in-law of Donald and Horace Overbaugh.
