Mechanicsville - Last rites for Dr. E. H. Littig, 67, a physician in Mechanicsville since 1935, were held in the United Presbyterian church at Mechanicsville March 7 with the Rev. Norman Lawton officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery at Iowa City.

Pallbearers were Hugh Lamont, Floyd Siver, Willard Eiler, Lester Tallman, Wilbur Colby and Harry Jackson. The Horner funeral home was in charge.

Dr. Littig died in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, March 4 after an illness of several months.

Elmer Henry Littig was born in Iowa City Nov. 7, 1904, the son of Lawrence William and Amy Duckett Littig. He received his MD from the University of Iowa in 1930.

He was married to Mary Plum June 16, 1930 in Iowa City. He served in the medical corps from 1930 to 1932 and in the Fitzsimmons hospital, Denver, Colo.

He opened his general practice office in Mechanicsville in 1935. Dr. Littig was a member of the Phi Rio Sigma medical fraternity, the Cedar County Medical association, the Iowa Medical society and the American Medical society.

He was a staff member of both Mercy and St. Luke's hospitals, Cedar Rapids, and belonged to the Lion's club and the Masons. He was a member of the Episcopal church, Iowa City. Dr. Littig served a term as mayor of Mechanicsville.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Mrs. John (Mary Alice) Bergeson, Bellevue, Wash. and 3 grandsons, Mark, Michael and David Bergeson; a brother, John Littig, Long Beach, Calif. and a niece, Mrs. Bernard Romig, East Moline, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
