Last rites for Mrs. Sylvia Haynes Leinen, 94, were held at the Horner Funeral home in Mechanicsville Feb. 5 with the Rev. James Nelson officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Mechanicsville. Mrs. Calvin Robinson was organist.

Mrs. Leinen died at a Spencer nursing home Feb. 2.

The daughter of Hill and Sarah Andre Ferguson, she was born near Mechanicsville Oct. 21, 1877 and attended the rural schools of the area. She was married to Frank J. Leinen at Mechanicsville June 2, 1909.

She was a telephone operator in Mechanicsville prior to her marriage. She had lived near and in Mechanicsville until 4 years ago. She had been a resident of the Spencer nursing home since January, 1968.

Mrs. Leinen was a member of the United Methodist church and a charter member of the Pollyanna Sunday school class.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. L. V. (Hazel) Dauber, Mechanicsville and Mrs. William (Audrey) Schneckloth, Spencer; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1945 and a son, Gordon, in 1966, and 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
