M. Leo Blake, Mediapolis, former Clarence businessman, died at a Burlington hospital Oct. 29. He had been in failing health for several years and had been hospitalized since Oct. 23. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist church, Mediapolis, with burial in the Kossuth cemetery, Mediapolis.

The son of Martin Luther and Sarah Creighton Blake, he was born in Mediapolis Jan. 20, 1900 and was married to Anna Mae Marten Dec. 6, 1917.

He came to Clarence in 1946 and operated a John Deere agency until 1951 when the family moved to California. They returned to Clarence in 1960 and then moved to Mediapolis 4 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, 5 daughters, Mrs. Howard (Betty) Streed, Middleton; Mrs. L. H. (Margery) Curtis, Hiawatha; Mrs. B. E. (Dorothy) Tudor, Millbrae, Calif; Mrs. William (Maxine) Ruther, Burlington and Mrs. George (Barbara) Shriver, Clarence; 3 sons, Howard, Low Moor; Richard, DeWitt and Martin (Pat) Clarence; 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 4 sisters. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters.
