Durant -- Mrs. Margaret Biermann, resident of Durant for the past 40 years, died at Wilton nursing home at the age of 83 years, Monday at 7:30 a.m. following a long illness. She had made her home with her son Harry Horn in Durant, Iowa.

The body was taken to the Frick funeral home until 10 a.m. Wednesday when it was taken to Durant chapel, where services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Interment was made in the Durant cemetery.

The decedent was born Nov. 16, 1868, in Germany. She came to America with her parents when one and a half years of age. She was married to Henry Horn, Feb. 18, 1891, in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 1899. On May 26, 1900, she was married to Peter Biermann. The couple engaged in farming seven miles north of Durant, retiring and moving to Durant in 1912. Mr. Biermann preceded her in death March 28, 1948.

Surviving are three sons, Harry and Waldo of Durant, and Gustav of Tipton; a step-son, John Biermann of Tipton; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lena Johnston of Muscatine, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. Lena Thiessen and Mrs. Laura Makoben, both of Durant, Mrs. Mary Wegner of LaVern, Minn., Mrs. Anna Holling of Brainard, Minn., Mrs. Tillie Makoben of Davenport, Mrs. William Hamann of Moscow, and Mrs. Harry Miller of Canada and three brothers, Jenn and Henry Glaser, both of Durant, and Peter Glaser of Lavern, Minn. Two brothers preceded her in death.
