August Joachim Busch was born November 12th, 1828, in Tehchow, Mecklenberg, Schwerin, Germany. In 1855 he was married to Miss Catherina Meier who died in 1874. To this union were born six children, two of them dying in infancy. Four years later he married Catherine Elizabeth Hundt and to this union two children were born, one of whom is still living. In the year of 1882 he immigrated with his family to America settling near Tipton. Later he moved to a farm near Lowden and afterwards to Lowden. His second wife preceded him to the grave a few years ago and soon after that he made his home with his son, Louis, near Lowden and a few months ago they moved near Tipton.

Mr. Busch had been sick for some time and during the last few months of his life he suffered from insomnia and weakness and he passed away Sunday, April 22, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 10 days.

He leaves to mourn his death four sons, one daughter, 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services took place here at one o'clock at the City Hall rooms with Rev. John Reichardt officiating. Interment was made in the Van Horn cemetery. The pall bearers were Wm. Koch, Conrad Miller, John Gadke, Chas. Dehne, George F. Steffens and H. O. Sander.
