Frank M. Baker, 81, native and life resident of Cedar county, died suddenly at 9:15 a.m. Monday following an attack of heart disease in the home of his son, Clarence Baker, eight miles northwest of Wilton.

He was born Oct. 13, 1864, son of John and Sarah Baker, pioneer settlers of the county. He was married Aug. 1, 1889 to Emma Mae Pratt who died April 9, 1939. Mr. Baker spent all but two years of his life on the farm on which he was born. He was a member of the Golden Rule Masonic lodge of Rochester over half a century and of the Davenport Shrine.

Surviving are two sons, Clarence, and Joseph of Galesburg, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Vera McCoy, Cedar county and Mrs. Ethel Smith, Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Heabner, Iowa City and Mrs. Betty Hain, Wilton. Two daughters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday in the home of his son, and in the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church at 2:30. The Rev. J. M. Newgard officiated and burial was in the Rochester cemetery, the McCormick funeral home, Tipton, in charge of arrangements.
